• We want people to understand that knife crime doesn’t have to happen and by carrying a knife you’re more likely to be stabbed.
  • We want you to design a logo that sums up the campaign and helps spread this message.
  • Your design will then be used as the official ‘It doesn’t have to happen’ campaign logo and will go on posters, leaflets, websites and stickers.
  • If your logo wins, you’ll get to work with award winning graphic designers to see your idea made real.
  • Every week the best logos will be displayed at www.bebo.com/itdoesnthavetohappen
  • At the end of the competition these will be put into the Hall of Fame and you can vote for your favourite.
  • Come up with an idea for a logo that can be used as the symbol for the anti-knife campaign. The logo can be just a picture or can include words about stopping knife crime.
  • Draw it on paper, paint it, or design it on a computer – it doesn’t matter as long as you can email it to us at logo@itdoesnthavetohappen.co.uk
  • Make the design about 5-10 cm across (but remember it also needs to work when it’s as small as a ten pence piece - so keep it simple).
  • Read the Terms & Conditions below before you enter.
  • Send your entries to logo@itdoesnthavetohappen.co.uk - or attach it as a jpeg to a Bebo message to www.bebo.com/itdoesnthavetohappen - before midnight on 21/08/2008.

These will help you get your ideas down, but remember
you can just draw it - or create it any way you like - scan it
and send it to us as a jpeg.

  • For inspiration, think of your favourite logos, what makes them work and why you like them.
  • If your idea is just a symbol or picture, it needs to be easy to remember and put across the anti-knife message of ‘It doesn’t have to happen’.
  • It should be obvious what the logo stands for, even if it is shrunk down to fit in small spaces such as on websites and leaflets (about the size of a ten pence piece).
  • The most memorable logos are usually the most simple.
  • The winning logo will have to look good on paper and on screen so remember that when designing it.
  • Remember, you don’t need to have had any experience in art or design, or be able to use computer graphics software, you just need a good idea.
